A Few Updates from My Writing Cave

Hi reader! I’m really glad you stopped by my little corner of the internet. Seriously, there are a million places you could be online right now, so the fact that you’re here means a lot to me.

I always have a long list of things I want to update you about, but somehow time moves faster than I expect. Between working a full-time job, writing whenever I can, and figuring out all the mysteries of self-publishing, the days tend to fill up quickly.

A Quick Favor (From One Slightly Obsessed Author)

First, if you’ve read my debut novel Out of the Depths and enjoyed it, I would be incredibly grateful if you left a review.

Reviews help more than you might realize, especially for a small indie author like me. They help books show up in recommendation algorithms and help new readers discover them.

Also, full transparency. I am a little bit psycho about checking reviews. I probably look for new ones almost every day. Yes, that’s definitely overkill. But when you pour so much heart and soul into a story, you cannot help but wonder what people think.

If you would like to be an ARC reader and get a free copy, just ask! I will happily send it over.

Book Two Is on the Way

Now for some actual news.

I am currently working on the second book in the series following Out of the Depths. I actually knew the basic plot for the sequel not long after finishing the first book. Right now, it mostly exists as storyboards and scenes in my head, but it is coming together.

The next book will introduce some new characters while bringing back a few familiar faces.

If the first book explored darkness, the next one will go even deeper. But the light will shine brighter too.

Fun fact. The title Out of the Depths comes from Psalm 130. If you have never read it, it is worth checking out.

The working title for the sequel is Night Demon, inspired by Isaiah 34:14 (Amplified):

“Indeed, Lilith (night demon) will settle there
And find herself a place of rest.”

So yes, things will get interesting.

A Completely Different Kind of Book

The second update is a fun one.

I am getting married soon!

And here is the twist. My future wife and I both have very active imaginations, so naturally we started writing a book together.

Now I should probably warn fans of Out of the Depths that our next book, The Last of Her Kind, will be nothing like it.

Seriously. Not even a little.

Instead of a dark crime thriller, we decided to write a slow-burn romantic comedy.

I know. I know.

But after spending so much time in the darker atmosphere of thrillers, I felt the urge to stretch my writing muscles a bit and try something lighter.

Funny story. The idea actually came from a dream. One Saturday afternoon I fell asleep on the couch and dreamed about an alien who comes to Earth on a mission to save her planet and ends up falling in love with a human.

I woke up thinking, “Dang, do not leave me on a cliffhanger!”

So the only solution was obvious. I had to write the story myself.

My soon-to-be wife, Mrs. Emily Rose, will be making her writing debut with this project, and let me just say. DANG.

This woman understands romance and comedy timing in a way that honestly impresses me every time we write together. I am incredibly proud of the work she has done on this story with me and I cannot wait for people to read it.

Right now we are about 50 percent of the way through the first draft.
